Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has flagged off the construction of Emmanuel Street and Irepodun Street in Shangisha as part of her administration’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure across the council area.

The road projects comprise the construction of a 110-metre Emmanuel Street and a 211.3-metre Irepodun Street. Both roads will be paved with quality interlocking stones and fitted with drainage channels on both sides to ensure durability and effective flood control. The projects are expected to be completed within six months.

Speaking at the official flag-off ceremony, Princess Bada expressed appreciation to residents, community leaders and stakeholders for their continued support, noting that infrastructure development remains a major priority of her administration.

She stated that the projects reflect the council’s commitment to improving the quality of life of residents through better roads and a cleaner environment, stressing that good infrastructure is essential for community growth and economic development.

The Mayoress appealed to residents and road users to cooperate with the contractor throughout the construction period, assuring them that the temporary inconvenience would give way to lasting benefits upon completion of the roads.

Princess Bada also warned that the newly constructed roads must not be converted into mechanic workshops or used for other activities that could obstruct traffic or damage the infrastructure.

She stressed that her administration would enforce strict measures against anyone found engaging in such acts, urging residents to protect the roads and ensure they remain fit for public use.

Reaffirming her administration’s development agenda, Princess Bada said the project aligns with the council’s theme, “Renewed Hope, Better Roads,” adding that her administration will continue to extend quality road infrastructure to more communities across Ikosi-Isheri LCDA.

She also appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his Renewed Hope Agenda, which she said continues to inspire people-centred governance, while commending Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his continuous support to local governments and LCDAs through the THEMES+ Agenda.

Community leaders and Community Development Associations (CDAs) in Shangisha commended the Mayoress for bringing the dividends of democracy to the area, describing the road projects as timely interventions that will improve accessibility, boost economic activities and enhance the living conditions of residents.
