The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Mosan Okunola Local Branch, has commended the Executive Chairman of Mosan Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Adunni Opeyemi Akindele, on the successful completion of her first year in office, describing her administration as one driven by purposeful leadership and people-centred governance.
In a statement signed by the Coordinator of the Council, Comrade Olowoyobiojo Kayode, the youth body praised the chairman for implementing impactful projects and programmes across key sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, security, and community development.
According to the statement, the administration has demonstrated a strong commitment to infrastructure development through the rehabilitation and construction of strategic roads, including Modupe Street, Adunni Drive, Lion of Judah/Odemuyiwa Street, 51 Road, the four-lane 2nd Avenue, Retail Market Road, and the Keda Bus Stop–Water Corporation Road. The installation of streetlights along Adunni Drive was also highlighted as a significant intervention that has enhanced public safety and stimulated economic activities within the community.
The Council further applauded the administration’s investment in education, citing the renovation of dilapidated classroom blocks, construction of modern toilet facilities, rehabilitation of school fences, distribution of writing materials and school bags to pupils, as well as the sponsorship of students for Free GCE and UTME registration. It noted that these initiatives have reduced the financial burden on parents while creating greater educational opportunities for young people.
NYCN also acknowledged the chairman’s commitment to youth development through skills acquisition programmes, empowerment initiatives, financial support schemes, and the establishment of an Empowerment Centre aimed at equipping residents with practical skills for self-reliance and economic growth.
In the healthcare sector, the youth body commended the provision of a standard ambulance to the Primary Health Centre in Okunola, the upgrading of the Opeki Primary Health Centre, and the establishment of sick bays in primary schools, describing the interventions as significant contributions to improving access to quality healthcare services.
The Council equally praised the administration for strengthening community security through the provision of patrol and utility vehicles to security agencies, noting that the intervention has helped maintain peace and protect lives and property across the LCDA.
While applauding the achievements recorded within the first year, NYCN urged Hon. Akindele to sustain the momentum by expanding investments in youth development, entrepreneurship, digital innovation, sports, vocational training, and employment opportunities.
The Council also reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the Mosan Okunola LCDA administration on initiatives that promote civic engagement, leadership development, volunteerism, innovation, and community service among young people.
Congratulating Hon. Adunni Akindele on her first anniversary in office, the Council wished her continued wisdom, strength, and success as she continues to serve the people of Mosan Okunola LCDA.
