
The Sixth Legislative Council of Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), led by Hon. Princess Basirat Banjoko, held a special plenary on Thursday in honour of the late Hon. Habib Adekunle Anifowose, popularly known as “Alapa,” who passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
The late lawmaker, who was buried the following day in accordance with Islamic rites, was remembered for his years of public service, commitment to the legislative council and contributions to the development of his community.
In her opening remarks, the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Princess Basirat Banjoko, recalled that Anifowoshe served in the Council from 2021 to 2025 before returning in 2025 as Majority Leader of the Sixth Legislature, a position he held until his death.
She described him as a father and brother to many, noting his constant desire to make things better.

She condoled with his family and, on behalf of the All Progressives Congress (APC), described his death as a painful loss while acknowledging it as the will of Almighty Allah.
Paying tribute, the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, described the deceased as a dedicated representative of Ward C5 and a committed servant of the Council.
Aroyewun highlighted his loyalty, humility and dedication to the progress of the Council and the people he represented. He prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased and comfort for his family, particularly his children.
The Executive Chairman also urged the family to remain strong and take solace in the meaningful life their father lived and the impact he made during his years of service. He assured his children of his continued support, stressing that his office would remain open to them whenever they require assistance.
Members of the Sixth Legislative Council also paid tributes to their departed colleague. The Deputy Leader, Hon. Hakeem Sholawon; Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Yusuf Bello; and Chief Whip, Hon. Saidat Adeoba, described Anifowoshe as humble, generous, gentle, courageous and dedicated to service.
They recalled his positive influence, mentorship and commitment to the development of the Council, while urging his children to remain united, uphold the values their father represented and continue to make him proud.
The special plenary was attended by legislative leaders and political stakeholders from across the Ikorodu Division, including Hon. Olakunle Williams, Chairman, Lagos Councillors Forum; Hon. Gbenga Oshin, former Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly; Hon. Oluwole Adeshina, Divisional Chairman, Ikorodu Division Councillors; and other serving and former legislative leaders.
Also present were the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Olowu; Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Kudus Oduntan; Supervisors and members of the Executive Cabinet, former colleagues of the deceased, family members, community stakeholders and political leaders.
The solemn session ended with members of the Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA Legislature signing the condolence register and observing a minute of silence in honour of the late lawmaker.
Muslim prayers were subsequently led by Hon. Saka Nurudeen, Deputy Leader, Ijede LCDA, for Allah’s mercy upon the soul of Hon. Anifowoshe and strength and comfort for his family, colleagues and loved ones.
The special plenary served as a final institutional tribute to a legislator whose years of service, relationships and contributions remain part of the history of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.
