Hon. Princess Olubukola Ademoyegun, Councillor representing Ward E in Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Deputy Majority Leader of the 6th Legislative Arm of the council and Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, Budgeting and Education, has provided food palliatives and cash grants to 70 widows, widowers and other beneficiaries as part of efforts to support vulnerable residents in her community.
The support programme took place at the Ojodu APC Party Secretariat, with beneficiaries drawn from Ward E and other wards across the LCDA. APC leaders and members also attended the programme.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Ademoyegun expressed appreciation for their presence and acceptance of the support, noting that the initiative would be followed by additional programmes designed to reach more residents across the community.
She disclosed that a fuel palliative programme would be introduced for transporters in Ward E before the end of the year, while another programme with a wider reach would also be implemented.
“Today, we are giving you this little quantity of palliatives, and I want to bring it to your notice that before the end of this year, we will have fuel palliatives for transporters in Ward E, Ojodu LCDA. Another programme bigger than this will also come up, and more people in our community will benefit from it,” she said.
Ademoyegun explained that her motivation for the initiative was influenced by an experience in 2017, when she accompanied Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, Member of the House of Representatives, to his hometown and witnessed his support for members of his community.
According to her, the experience inspired her to seek opportunities to support people in her own community, while her election as a councillor created an avenue to contribute directly to the welfare of residents.
She added that the programme was also intended to ensure that members of the community and the party are not left out of opportunities to benefit from available support initiatives.
Speaking at the programme, Hon. Abolade Balogun, the apex leader in Ward E, commended Ademoyegun for the support and encouraged other councillors and political officeholders in Ojodu LCDA to consider similar initiatives that would directly benefit residents.
Balogun described the programme as a community-focused initiative that provides direct assistance to residents and reflects Ademoyegun’s commitment to giving back to her community.
Also speaking, Hon. Abolaji Shoneye, immediate past Chairman of Ward E and Chairman of the Contact and Mobilisation Committee for the 2027 general election, commended Ademoyegun for her activities since assuming office.
Shoneye described her as a grassroots-oriented representative who maintains close relationships with residents and continues to contribute to community-focused initiatives.
He noted that Ademoyegun had remained engaged with people at the grassroots while supporting programmes aimed at improving the welfare of residents.
Ademoyegun expressed appreciation to APC leaders in Ojodu LCDA for their support and continued cooperation.
