Hon. Oluseyi Onabajo, Councillor representing Ward E4, Olorunda, and Chief Whip of the 6th Legislative Arm of Ikorodu North LCDA, has reaffirmed his commitment to youth empowerment through the Speed Up Lagos skills acquisition programme, which has trained over 500 beneficiaries in different vocational courses across Ikorodu North.

The graduation ceremony for beneficiaries of the Speed Up Olorunda Street-to-Street Training Programme was held on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, at Igbaga Town Hall, Olorunda. The programme equips residents with practical skills to support self-employment, small business development and income generation.

The courses include catering and food technology, fabrics, leather and souvenir production, home essentials and chemical products production, makeup and gele techniques, ladies’ hairstyling, barbing, smartphone graphics, and events and decoration.

Through his grassroots engagement, Hon. Seyi Onabajo continues to support opportunities that enable residents to acquire useful skills and improve their livelihoods. The training is intended to help beneficiaries turn their knowledge into businesses, provide services within their communities and contribute to local economic growth.

Dignitaries present at the graduation ceremony included the Council Leader, Hon. Bose Benson; the Baale; community leaders; political stakeholders; special guests and other invited guests.

The programme aligns with the New Deal Agenda of the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Mayor Ameen Olawale Ibrahim Apanisile, and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly their focus on economic empowerment, skills development and improved livelihoods.

Graduates are encouraged to put their skills into practice and explore legitimate business-support opportunities, including programmes offered by the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF). Access to funding is subject to the relevant eligibility criteria, application process and approval. Participation in the training does not automatically guarantee a loan.

Hon. Onabajo’s commitment to skills acquisition reflects the importance of bringing empowerment programmes closer to the people of Ward E4, Olorunda, and creating opportunities for residents to become self-reliant and contribute to the development of Ikorodu North.
