Kosofe LG Engages Stakeholders Ahead of Ajayi Aina Road Reconstruction in Ifako-Gbagada ~Ajasa-Info

The Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Barr. Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe, has convened a stakeholders’ engagement meeting with residents and community leaders ahead of the commencement of the reconstruction of Ajayi Aina Road in the Ifako area of Gbagada, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure and improving the living conditions of residents.

The meeting, held in preparation for the long-awaited project, provided an opportunity for the council to address community concerns, explain the scope of the reconstruction, and seek the cooperation of residents before construction begins.

Speaking during the engagement, Barr. Ogunlewe said the decision to reconstruct Ajayi Aina Road was informed by the need to ease the hardship experienced by commuters, residents, and businesses that rely on the corridor. He noted that the road serves more than five communities, making it a critical infrastructure project for the area.

The council chairman acknowledged that the reconstruction would result in temporary traffic disruptions and other inconveniences but assured residents that the long-term benefits would outweigh the short-term challenges. According to him, the completed road will improve traffic flow, enhance economic activities, and provide a better driving experience for motorists.

Residents and community leaders expressed appreciation to the local government, describing the reconstruction of Ajayi Aina Road as a long-overdue intervention. They noted that the poor condition of the road had negatively impacted transportation, businesses, and the overall economic development of the Ifako community.

Also speaking, the Leader of the House and Councillor representing the area, Hon. Femi Oyesile, commended Barr. Ogunlewe for prioritising the reconstruction of the road. He described the project as a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and urged residents to cooperate fully with contractors to ensure its successful completion.

Traditional rulers present at the meeting also welcomed the project, expressing delight that the much-needed intervention would soon bring relief to their communities.

Barr. Ogunlewe assured stakeholders that the local government would closely monitor the project to ensure quality execution and timely completion. He further pledged to minimise construction timelines, provide access routes to homes and businesses throughout the construction period, and implement effective drainage measures to prevent flooding and reduce disruptions.

The stakeholders’ engagement underscores the Ogunlewe administration’s resolve to deliver critical infrastructure projects that improve the quality of life and promote sustainable development across Kosofe Local Government.

The meeting was attended by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Akinyemi Abiona; the Supervisor for Works, Hon. Taiwo Balogun; other Supervisory Councillors; the Council Engineer, Mrs. Samuel Mautin Ayodele; the CDC Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Olusegun; members of the Ifako CDA, market leaders, traditional rulers, and other key stakeholders.
