Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru has expressed satisfaction with the steady progress recorded on the ongoing reconstruction of the 34-kilometre Ikorodu-Itoikin Road and the 4.5-kilometre Itoikin-Ijebu-Ode Road following an inspection tour of the projects.

During the inspection on Saturday, the senator assessed the pace and quality of work while engaging with engineers and project officials to ensure that construction remains on schedule. He reaffirmed his commitment to seeing the critical road infrastructure projects through to completion for the benefit of residents and road users.

Providing an update on the project, Senator Abiru disclosed that reconstruction from the Sabo Roundabout Junction towards Itoikin has progressed to nearly seven kilometres, while approximately 4.5 kilometres have been completed from the Itoikin axis towards Ikorodu. He added that work is continuing steadily on the remaining sections of the road, with the 4.5-kilometre Itoikin-Ijebu-Ode Road now motorable as finishing works approach completion.

Speaking after the inspection, the lawmaker described the road projects as vital to the socio-economic development of Lagos East Senatorial District, noting that improved road infrastructure would ease transportation, enhance connectivity, stimulate commerce, and improve the quality of life of residents across the corridor.

“I am encouraged by the progress recorded so far and will continue to engage and closely monitor these projects to ensure they are completed for the benefit of our people,” Senator Abiru said.

The Ikorodu-Itoikin Road serves as a major transport corridor linking communities in Ikorodu Division with adjoining parts of Epe Division. For several years, the road had posed significant challenges to motorists and residents due to its deteriorated condition.

Senator Abiru noted that the ongoing reconstruction followed sustained engagements with the Federal Government to facilitate intervention on the road, reaffirming his commitment to pursuing impactful infrastructure projects across Lagos East.

He assured constituents that he would continue to advocate for projects that improve connectivity, drive economic growth, and deliver lasting development to communities throughout the senatorial district.
