Expectant mothers in Ijede LCDA benefited from free maternal and newborn healthcare essentials as the Executive Chairman of Ijede Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, distributed the Ijede Tunrayo Delivery Kits at Oke Eletu Primary Healthcare Centre.

The initiative is designed to support pregnant women with essential delivery items, promote safe childbirth, and improve maternal and newborn health outcomes across Ijede LCDA.

In her keynote address, Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba disclosed that the initiative was inspired by a working visit she paid to Oke Eletu Primary Healthcare Centre last week, where she assessed the facility’s operations and interacted with expectant mothers.

She explained that the distribution of the delivery kits fulfilled the promise she made during that visit to provide them with essential items needed for safe delivery and healthy newborn care.

The Chairman further revealed that the expectant mothers spoke highly of the nurses and other healthcare workers at the centre, describing them as caring, supportive and respectful, adding that they attend to patients with kindness and professionalism.

She noted that government has a responsibility to listen to the people, appreciate dedicated healthcare workers and continue providing quality healthcare services as part of the dividends of democracy.

She urged the expectant mothers to return to Oke Eletu Primary Healthcare Centre when it is time for their delivery, assuring them of quality maternal healthcare in a safe and friendly environment. She also encouraged them to share the good news with their families, saying, “When you get home, tell your husbands about what we have provided for you today.”

Speaking at the event, Apex Leader of Ijede LCDA, Hon. Ajetunmobi, described the initiative as a major relief for expectant mothers. He said he was asking about the cost of the delivery items, noting that in many general hospitals, expectant mothers are required to provide such items before delivery can proceed.

He commended the Chairman for making the delivery kits available free of charge and described the initiative as laudable.

He also praised the standard of healthcare services at Oke Eletu Primary Healthcare Centre, stating that among the many health facilities he has visited, the centre stands out for its top-notch service delivery.

Also speaking, Alhaji Wasiu Agoro said Oke Eletu Primary Healthcare Centre is equipped to provide immediate healthcare services and offers a wide range of medical care.

He urged the expectant mothers to make good use of the items provided and appreciate the Chairman for easing the financial burden associated with childbirth through the distribution of the delivery kits.

A Nurse of the health facility, Mrs. Hassan A.A., described the presentation of the delivery kits as a historic milestone, noting that such an initiative had never taken place in the history of the health centre.

She encouraged the expectant mothers to return to Oke Eletu Primary Healthcare Centre for the delivery of their babies, assuring them of quality and professional care.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Gbadamosi Abidemi expressed appreciation to the Chairman, saying the expectant mothers were filled with joy and grateful for the opportunity to benefit from the initiative.

The Supervisor for Health, Hon. Adijat Amusat, also commended Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba for her thoughtful gesture, describing the distribution of the delivery kits as another demonstration of the administration’s commitment to the wellbeing of expectant mothers and improved healthcare delivery in Ijede LCDA.
