The Executive Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), has intervened in the succession dispute surrounding the vacant stool of the Onise of Ise Kingdom by convening an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) session, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to peace, justice, and community harmony.

The mediation session, held at the Lekki LCDA Secretariat, brought together the Onilekki of Lekki, the Onilepia of Lepia, representatives of the various Ise royal families, and other key stakeholders for constructive dialogue aimed at reaching an amicable resolution.

The exercise was coordinated by the Council’s Legal Officer, Mrs. Fola Roberts, alongside two senior legal practitioners, who guided the parties through the Alternative Dispute Resolution process.

Alternative Dispute Resolution is a conflict resolution mechanism that encourages dialogue, negotiation, and mutual understanding, enabling parties to settle disputes amicably without resorting to prolonged court proceedings. The process also helps preserve relationships while reducing the financial and emotional burdens often associated with litigation.

Engr. Kasali said the intervention reflects his administration’s commitment to promoting peace, strengthening traditional institutions, and ensuring that community disputes are resolved through consensus rather than confrontation.

The initiative forms part of the council’s broader efforts to foster unity, stability, and sustainable development across communities within Lekki LCDA.
