Hon. Yusuf Olalekan Bello Celebrates One Year in Office, Distributes Cooking Gas Cylinders to 70 Households, Highlights Achievements ~Ajasa-Info

The Deputy Majority Leader of the Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA Legislative Council and Councillor representing Ward C4 (Owode-Ibeshe), Hon. Yusuf Olalekan Bello, celebrated his first anniversary in office with the distribution of cooking gas cylinders to 70 households, while highlighting key achievements recorded within the past year.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Bello expressed appreciation to the people of Ward C4 for their unwavering support and confidence in electing him as their representative. He thanked the constituents for standing by him throughout his first year in office and reaffirmed his commitment to providing purposeful representation and implementing initiatives that will improve the lives of the people.

He noted that the intervention forms part of his commitment to easing the economic burden on residents amid the current economic realities. According to him, the distribution of the cooking gas cylinders is a practical effort to reduce the cost of living, improve household welfare and encourage the use of cleaner cooking energy.

He added that the initiative reflects his determination to ensure that the dividends of democratic governance are felt by more families across Ward C4, while assuring residents that he would continue to champion programmes and projects that promote sustainable development and improve their quality of life.

Highlighting his one-year scorecard, Hon. Bello said his administration has remained focused on delivering impactful and people-centred programmes across the ward. He listed some of the key interventions to include the distribution of 12 free JAMB forms to support students seeking admission into tertiary institutions, the Back-to-School Project for pupils, the distribution of 100 food packs to vulnerable households, and the facilitation of POS businesses for 18 constituents to promote economic empowerment and self-reliance.

He noted that these initiatives, alongside other community development programmes, underscore his commitment to improving the welfare of residents and bringing the dividends of democracy closer to the grassroots.

Former Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, Hon. Gbenga Basanya, commended the councillor for the initiative, describing the distribution as a remarkable gesture that reflects responsive leadership and genuine concern for the welfare of the people.

Pastor Ola Ayetoba also lauded Hon. Bello’s efforts, describing him as a listening representative whose performance has surpassed expectations. He said he was pleasantly surprised by the scale of the empowerment programme, describing it as a massive initiative that exceeded expectations and demonstrated the councillor’s commitment to serving his constituents.

The Leader of the Legislative Council, Princess Basirat Adetutu Banjoko, praised Hon. Bello for consistently advocating for the interests of the people of Ibeshe.

She described the empowerment programme as a laudable initiative, noting that there is no special ward allowance available to councillors, making the gesture a personal sacrifice worthy of commendation. She added that Hon. Bello has consistently shown passion for the welfare of his constituents both within and outside the legislative chamber.

Leader of the Ikorodu Local Government Legislative Council, Hon. Wasiu Babatunde Shotomiwa, urged the beneficiaries to appreciate the councillor’s generosity, stating that the initiative reflects his genuine concern and love for the people he represents.

He encouraged residents to continue supporting leaders who remain committed to community development and the welfare of the people.

Hon. Arowolo Mathew commended Hon. Bello for going beyond his legislative responsibilities to directly impact the lives of his constituents.

He noted that despite his responsibility of managing legislative affairs, the councillor has continued to initiate community-based interventions, including educational support, empowerment programmes and other welfare initiatives.

While encouraging him to sustain the momentum, he stressed that leadership is a call to service and not personal enrichment, expressing confidence that the councillor would continue to deliver more meaningful projects for the benefit of his constituents.

Ward C4 APC Chairman, Princess Abosede Esther, appreciated Hon. Yusuf Bello for remaining committed to the welfare and development of the people of Owode-Ibeshe.

The event attracted Baale of the Community,  political leaders, party faithful, community stakeholders and residents, while beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the intervention, describing it as a thoughtful initiative that would provide relief to many families amid the prevailing economic challenges.

The programme further underscored Hon. Yusuf Olalekan Bello’s commitment to responsive representation, grassroots development and improving the living standards of residents in Ward C4, Owode-Ibeshe..
