Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, performed the groundbreaking for the Idera Primary Health Care Centre, reaffirming her administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare across the council area.

Speaking at the ceremony, Princess Bada described the project as another significant milestone in her administration’s drive to ensure that every community within Ikosi-Isheri LCDA has access to quality and affordable healthcare services.

She recalled that in 2014, while serving as Vice Chairman and Supervisor for Health, a portal cabin was established in the community to meet its immediate healthcare needs. According to her, the facility served residents well, but with the growth of the community, it has become necessary to replace it with a modern Primary Health Care Centre that will provide improved healthcare services.

The Mayoress disclosed that, upon completion, the new facility will feature spacious consultation rooms, fully equipped treatment rooms, a modern laboratory, a well-stocked pharmacy, quality maternity services, child immunisation, antenatal and postnatal care, family planning, health screening, and treatment for common illnesses. She noted that the centre would not only improve healthcare delivery but also save lives and bring quality medical services closer to residents.

Princess Bada also highlighted her administration’s achievements in the health sector, recalling the commissioning of the 104-bed Senator Oluremi Tinubu Ikosi Primary Health Care Centre, the largest Primary Health Care Centre in Nigeria in terms of size and facilities. The facility was commissioned by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, represented by Hajiya Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President.

She said the achievements align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the T.H.E.M.E.S.+ Agenda of Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, whose continued support for local government administration has empowered councils to deliver impactful projects across communities.

Princess Bada appreciated residents for their continued support and called for their cooperation during the construction phase, urging them to protect the facility upon completion.

In his remarks, the APC Candidate for the Kosofe Federal House of Representatives, Mayor Dele Oshinowo, commended Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada for initiating the construction of another Primary Health Care Centre in the council area.

He described the project as a significant investment in the wellbeing of residents, noting that it would improve access to quality healthcare and address the medical needs of the Idera community.

He praised the Mayoress for her consistent delivery of impactful projects and said her achievements reflect the vision of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Community Development Association (CDA) appreciated the Mayoress for her plan to upgrade the existing health facility into a modern Primary Health Care Centre. He noted that the project would significantly improve access to quality healthcare for residents of the Idera community and commended her commitment to the wellbeing of the people.
