… Operation Light Up Ikosi-Isheri Initiative

The Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, MNIM, has presented 35 official vehicles to members of the council’s Executive and Cabinet as part of activities marking the first anniversary of her second term in office.
The presentation, held on Monday, August 10, 2026, was described by the Mayoress as a significant step towards equipping the administration for more effective grassroots governance and service delivery.
Speaking at the ceremony, Princess Samiat Bada said the provision of the 35 vehicles was more than a presentation, describing it as a bold step towards setting a new standard for grassroots government.
She explained that the vehicles would enable Executive Members to move around the LCDA, supervise projects, reach communities and respond faster to the needs of residents.
The ceremony also featured the unveiling of solar-powered streetlights along Ikosi Road, marking the beginning of the council’s Operation Light Up Ikosi-Isheri LCDA initiative.
Princess Samiat Bada said the initiative was aimed at making roads and communities safer, brighter and better for residents.
She disclosed that as part of the anniversary activities, the council would commission eight completed roads with drainage and solar-powered streetlights, alongside a Fire Station, Mini Waste Transfer Station, Public Toilet Facilities, Staff Canteen and Offices, among other projects.
“These are not just projects on paper. They are things our people can see, use and benefit from,” she said.
The Mayoress described the administration’s achievements as “Renewed Hope in action,” appreciating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to bringing development closer to the grassroots.
She also commended Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his support, leadership and confidence in Local Governments and LCDAs.
Addressing the Executive Members who received the vehicles, Princess Samiat Bada reminded them that the vehicles came with responsibility, urging them to use them to serve the people, visit communities, listen to residents and act on their needs.
She assured residents that her administration had raised the bar and would continue to do more for the people of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA.
Also speaking at the ceremony, Mayor Dele Oshinowo, APC Candidate for the House of Representatives, Kosofe Federal Constituency, congratulated the Supervisors and Special Advisers on the presentation of the official vehicles.
Oshinowo urged the beneficiaries to use the vehicles for their official duties and commended Princess Samiat Bada for what he described as a history-making initiative of providing official vehicles to 35 Cabinet Members.
He also commended the Mayoress for her achievements in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, particularly in healthcare infrastructure and road projects.
Meanwhile, Hon. Lateef Omotayo, Special Adviser on Special Duties, Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, expressed appreciation to Princess Samiat Bada for her kindness, leadership and support.
Omotayo said he was grateful for the opportunity to serve under the leadership of Princess Samiat Bada and shared his testimony following the presentation of a brand-new Lexus RX 350 to him.
He recalled that he had previously received a Toyota Sienna as a gift during an empowerment programme, but following a misunderstanding, the vehicle was later retrieved from him.
According to him, the presentation of the Lexus RX 350 by Princess Samiat Bada brought him great joy, describing the gesture as a remarkable replacement for what had been taken away.
He thanked the Mayoress for her compassion, motherly heart and support, saying her gesture demonstrated that good leadership rewards loyalty and service.
Omotayo pledged his continued loyalty and commitment to serving Ikosi-Isheri LCDA and the APC.
