Osogbo, the Osun State capital, came together on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, for the AMBO/ADERETI 2026 City Praise Prayer Movement, organised in support of the APC Governorship Candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, and his running mate, Engr. Benjamin Kayode Adereti.

The city-wide prayer movement featured musical concerts, prayers for peaceful elections and political networking, with participants moving through major parts of Osogbo before returning to the stadium.

The procession covered two major routes. The first passed through Oke-Baale, Oke-Fia, Alekuwodo, Oja-Oba Market, Lameco, Dada Estate and Abere before returning to the stadium, while the second route moved from Oke-Baale through Isale-Osun, Oja-Oba, Olorunsogo, Ring Road, Old Garage and Bata before returning to the stadium.

Speaking on the objective of the movement, one of the City Praise Coordinators, Kehinde Adegboyega, said the initiative was driven by a desire to seek divine intervention for Osun State and promote peaceful elections.

He said they were not organising the movement for any personal or parochial interest, but in the interest of Osun State and its people.

According to him, the movement was aimed at seeking God’s intervention and deliverance from what he described as unserious governance, while also praying against electoral violence and malpractice.

“We are praising God to bring His hand down so that we can have peaceful elections without any hanky-panky,” Adegboyega said.

He also expressed support for Oyebamiji and Adereti, describing them as candidates whose emergence, in his view, would serve the interests of the state.

The Co-convener of the programme, Taiwo Adegboyega, said the primary purpose of the gathering was to give praise to God, noting that the organisers also used the occasion to pray for a peaceful governorship election.

He said the movement brought together both Muslims and Christians, stressing that the participation of people from both faiths demonstrated broad support for the political cause.

“We are praising God to make sure the election that we are about to have on August 15 is peaceful. By His grace, we believe that God has come down today and we are going to have a peaceful election,” he said.

Taiwo further described Oyebamiji as a calm and intelligent person who, according to him, is committed to doing things properly and differently.

The City Praise Movement also provided an avenue for participants and supporters to network while expressing their aspirations for peaceful political participation and good governance in Osun State.
