Ogunlewe Commissions Onabanjo Road, Reaffirms Commitment to More Road Projects in Kosofe Local Government ~Ajasa-Info

The Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Barr. Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe, has officially commissioned the newly constructed Onabanjo Street, Oworonshoki, alongside its drainage infrastructure, as part of activities marking his administration’s first anniversary in office.

The commissioning ceremony, held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, brought together residents, community leaders, political stakeholders and other members of the community.

Addressing the press and residents at the event, Chairman Ogunlewe expressed appreciation to the good people of Kosofe Local Government for their continued support for his administration.

He emphasised that the newly constructed road belongs to the people and should be accessible to everyone, irrespective of political affiliation.

“This road is for the people, not for APC members alone,” the chairman said, while urging residents to take ownership of the project and ensure its proper maintenance.

Ogunlewe also appealed to roadside traders, mechanics, miscreants and scavengers to stay away from the road and its drainage infrastructure, warning that activities that could damage the newly completed project would not be tolerated.

He further called on the leadership of the Community Development Association (CDA) to ensure that the road is properly maintained and protected from activities that could undermine the government’s investment.

The chairman recalled the ugly incident at Amuwo-Odofin, where miscreants and scavengers reportedly removed iron rods from the Alakija Bridge, stressing that such an incident must not be allowed to happen on Onabanjo Road.

Looking ahead, Ogunlewe disclosed that his administration plans to commission more than six additional roads before the end of his tenure, reaffirming his commitment to improving road infrastructure across Kosofe Local Government.

He also urged residents to continue supporting the APC in the forthcoming elections.

The CDC Chairman, Mr. Segun Babatunde, commended Chairman Ogunlewe for the road project and urged residents to take responsibility for maintaining the infrastructure.

He also appealed to roadside mechanics and traders to vacate the road and allow the newly constructed infrastructure to serve its intended purpose.

Speaking with the media, Mrs. Adedoyin Adeola, a resident of Onabanjo Road, expressed appreciation to the local government chairman.

She explained that the road was originally constructed during the administration of the late Governor Lateef Jakande more than 30 years ago and had deteriorated significantly over the years.

She thanked the chairman for reconstructing the road with modern infrastructure, including street lighting, describing the intervention as a major improvement for residents.

Another resident, Mr. Adeola Umar, also praised the project, saying the improved road would contribute significantly to economic activities along the street.

Alhaji Olalekan Sulaiman, the APC Local Government Chairman, delivered a goodwill message at the event, commending the administration for the intervention.

Hon. Abayomi Olugbiji, Councillor representing Ward B, also joined other stakeholders in appreciating the chairman’s efforts toward improving infrastructure in the community.

The commissioning of Onabanjo Road marks another infrastructure milestone for the Ogunlewe administration as it celebrates its first year in office, with the chairman promising that more road projects will be delivered across Kosofe Local Government.
