The declaration walk and unveiling brought together community leaders, indigenes, residents and other stakeholders, with the monarch describing the initiative as an avenue to unite the people, showcase the progress of Isiwu and encourage the younger generation to believe in the development taking place within the community.

Oba Raji appreciated the political class and other stakeholders for their contributions to the development of Isiwu, particularly Senator Tokunbo Abiru, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson and the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Mayor Ameen Olawale Ibrahim Apanisile, whom he commended for his efforts since assuming office.

The monarch also expressed special appreciation to Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, Baba Oba of Isiu Land, for his tremendous contribution to the growth and development of the community, while praying for continued success for all individuals and groups supporting Isiwu.

He further acknowledged Otunba Musa Folagbade Banwo, Chairman of the Isiu Eweye Development Association (ISEDASS), and members of the association for their contributions to the development of Isiwu, appreciating their commitment and support towards the growth and progress of the community.

Speaking on the activities lined up for Eweye Day 2026, Dr. Haruna Ishola Balogun, Coordinating Vice Chairman of Isiu Eweye Development Association, explained that the declaration walk and unveiling of the official Ankara, held on Saturday, September 5, were among the major activities introduced for this year’s celebration.

He noted that the walk was an additional activity designed to take the message of Eweye Day around the community, while other programmes would include health initiatives, football and other sporting competitions, as well as activities for lawyers, biologists, artisans and market women. He added that the grand finale is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026.

Otunba Tunde Ogumberu, Otunba of Isiu Kingdom, said the 2026 celebration would take a different dimension, with more activities designed to promote awareness, unity and community development.

He disclosed that Alhaji Sulaimon Alao Malaika would provide entertainment at the grand finale, adding that this year’s programme would also feature health programmes, sporting activities and Oloja Day.

According to him, Oloja Day, which usually takes place before the grand finale, would this year be held on the morning of the grand finale, with Olojas from across Ikorodu Division expected to participate.

Ogumberu urged residents to shun social vices and embrace collaboration, harmony and unity, stressing that collective efforts were necessary to move Isiwu forward.

Also speaking, Ashwaju Olawale Ogunbela, Second Vice Chairman of Isiu Eweye Development Association, said the annual celebration provides an opportunity for indigenes and residents to come together, celebrate their heritage and strengthen unity within the community.

He disclosed that one of the new developments this year was the availability of a piece of land for a playing ground, following a commitment by the local government chairman to assist the community in securing a suitable space.

Ogunbela said the playing ground would provide young people with an avenue to develop and showcase their sporting talents.

Hon. Jimoh Iliasu, Deputy Leader of Ikorodu North LCDA and Councillor representing Ward B3, Isiu, appreciated the monarch for his leadership and efforts towards the development of the community, expressing optimism that the 2026 edition would be better.

He called on residents to participate actively in Eweye Day, express their views and work together with other stakeholders towards the progress of Isiwu.

Mr. Segun Alimi, Secretary of Isiu Eweye Development Association, and the Chairman Publicity Committee for Isiu Eweye day 2026, described the 2026 celebration as a programme packed with entertainment and community-focused activities, noting that the declaration walk and unveiling held on Saturday, September 5, were specifically designed to create awareness and encourage wider participation.

He appreciated Oba Olukayode David Raji for his support and prompt response to the needs of the association, while also commending Mayor Ameen Apanisile for his contributions to the community.

He urged residents, both indigenes and non-indigenes living in Isiwu, to see Eweye Day as a collective community programme rather than a personal affair, stressing that the celebration promotes the community’s identity, heritage and shared development.
