The Rhoda Youth Centre has provided educational support to pupils in public primary schools across Ikorodu West and Ikorodu North, with the distribution of school uniforms, learning materials and scholarship support as part of its continued intervention across Ikorodu Division.
The latest phase of the programme followed an earlier distribution to pupils in Ikorodu Local Government and Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA last Friday.
Under the current phase, two pupils from each public primary school in Ikorodu West and Ikorodu North benefited from the intervention, ensuring that schools across the two councils were covered.
The Ikorodu West beneficiaries received their scholarship and educational support at C&S Primary School, Ogolonto, while the programme for Ikorodu North beneficiaries was held at Farm Settlement, Odogunyan.
Speaking during the programme, Founder of Rhoda Youth Centre, Asiwaju Rotimi Erogbogbo, called on parents and employers to pay greater attention to the welfare, dignity and upbringing of children.
Erogbogbo described children as a collective heritage and stressed the need for adequate care, compassion and support to help them develop into responsible members of society.
He explained that the Centre’s education-focused initiatives, including teachers’ workshops and school-support programmes, are aimed at improving the learning experience and future prospects of children.
According to him, providing pupils with proper uniforms and essential learning materials can boost their confidence and enable them to participate more actively in school activities.
Erogbogbo said the initiative began last year with the provision of school bags, uniforms, socks, exercise books and other educational materials to selected pupils.
He said the intervention is being sustained, with beneficiaries expected to continue receiving support through their Primary Six education.
The package provided this year included exercise books, writing materials, school uniforms, sandals and socks. He explained that new school bags were not included this year because those distributed during the previous edition remained in good condition.
The Founder also disclosed plans to provide the intervention to additional primary schools and explore scholarship opportunities for outstanding pupils as they transition to secondary education.
He further mentioned an existing intervention aimed at assisting a beneficiary in securing admission into a suitable secondary school.
Also speaking, Mrs. Maureen Awulonuh said the initiative reflects Rhoda Youth Centre’s continued commitment to making education more accessible and comfortable for children from less-privileged backgrounds.
The latest distribution in Ikorodu West and Ikorodu North brings the Centre’s education support programme to more communities within Ikorodu Division.
The programme concluded with the presentation of educational materials and scholarship support to the beneficiaries, reinforcing Rhoda Youth Centre’s commitment to supporting pupils, strengthening education and investing in the future of children across the division.
