The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area chapter, has formally presented the Ikorodu North 8-Year Youth Development Plan (2025–2033) to the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Mayor Ameen Olawale Ibrahim Apanisile, as part of efforts to advance youth development and strengthen youth-focused governance within the council area.

The Coordinator of NYCN, Ikorodu North LCDA, Comr. Jackson Adewale Ayika, stated that the landmark document represents the collective vision of the council’s youth leadership for a more inclusive, empowered and progressive youth population, reflecting a commitment to building a future where every young person has the opportunity to thrive.

According to the Coordinator, the Youth Development Plan was carefully designed to address the aspirations and challenges of diverse groups of young people, including students and young professionals, entrepreneurs and artisans, unemployed youth, young women and girls, rural and underserved communities, Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs), as well as vulnerable and less-privileged youths, with the overarching goal of ensuring that no young person is left behind.

The Coordinator also appreciated Mayor Apanisile for receiving the strategic document and acknowledged his continued commitment to youth-centred governance through the New Deal Agenda.

Describing the plan as more than a policy document, Comr. Jackson said it serves as a roadmap for partnership, sustainable progress and a brighter future for every young person in Ikorodu North, adding that the future is not something to wait for, but something that must be deliberately built.
