The Executive Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), on Sunday visited flood-affected communities across the council area as part of a high-level assessment aimed at evaluating the impact of the recent flooding and mobilising stakeholders towards implementing lasting solutions.

The delegation comprised the Member representing Ibeju-Lekki Federal Constituency, Prince Bayo Balogun; the Member representing Ibeju-Lekki Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Oladele Ajayi; the Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Taxation, Hon. Abdulkabir Ogungbo; the Secretary to the Local Government, Dr. Bukola Lawal; council supervisors, Community Development Association leaders, and other key stakeholders.

During the visit, the delegation toured several flood-affected communities and strategic locations, including the Naval Forward Operating Base (FOB), Lekki, Ebute Lekki, Magbon Segun, and adjoining areas, where they engaged residents, assessed the extent of the flooding, and received first-hand accounts of the challenges confronting affected communities.

Speaking with residents, Engr. Kasali reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with relevant government agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders, and technical experts to implement practical flood mitigation measures while pursuing long-term infrastructure and environmental solutions to safeguard lives, property, and critical public assets.

He noted that the assessment would help identify priority intervention areas, strengthen collaboration among stakeholders, and develop a coordinated response to address both the immediate concerns of residents and the underlying causes of flooding across the council area.

Engr. Kasali reiterated that Lekki LCDA remains committed to building resilient communities through proactive planning, strategic partnerships, and people-centred governance that responds effectively to the needs of residents.
