GLOWFUX @ 10: Organisers Rally Ikorodu Leaders as Rep. Babajimi Benson Pledges Stronger Support for Anniversary ~Ajasa-Info

Organisers of the 10th anniversary edition of GLOWFUX Charity Concert have begun a fresh push to mobilise political, community and other influential stakeholders across Ikorodu Division as preparations intensify for the landmark celebration, with Member of the House of Representatives for Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson, reaffirming his commitment to the initiative.

The development followed an appreciation and advocacy visit by representatives of Bundle of Hope Child Care & Empowerment Foundation, the owners of GLOWFUX Charity Concert; members of the GLOWFUX @10 planning team; and representatives of Fanafillit Integrated Concepts, the production consultants for the anniversary edition, to the federal lawmaker on Friday, September 4.

The delegation comprised Comrade Olukunle Adelabu, Reporter-in-Chief of Impact Newspapers, a member of the Advisory Board of Bundle of Hope Child Care & Empowerment Foundation, who represented the Foundation; Miss Chisom Oparaugo, Project Coordinator of GLOWFUX @ 10; Miss Adewunmi Tijani and Miss Elizabeth Lasisi, representing Fanafillit Integrated Concepts; and two GLOWFUX Young Ambassadors, Ambassador Hilary Adelabu and Ambassador Hiradat Aroyewun.

The visit was primarily organised to appreciate Rep. Benson for his support for GLOWFUX since its second edition and to seek his stronger involvement as the charity concert prepares to mark its 10th anniversary.

GLOWFUX is an annual charity concert owned by Bundle of Hope Child Care & Empowerment Foundation and created to provide an unusual end-of-the-year celebration experience for children and teenagers in organised needy homes, including orphanages, rehabilitation centres and other facilities caring for vulnerable young people.

Over the years, the initiative has grown into a platform through which vulnerable children are not only provided with gifts and essential items but are also given an opportunity to experience joy, recreation, dignity, inclusion and the warmth of a wider community.

With the 2026 edition marking a decade of the initiative, the delegation told Rep. Benson that his longstanding support, influence and humanitarian interventions make him particularly strategic to the sustainability and expansion of the project.

The delegation acknowledged Rep. Benson’s longstanding desire to see more editions of GLOWFUX hosted in Ikorodu, describing the vision as consistent with the town’s broader commitment to the development and wellbeing of every child and young person.

The organisers therefore appealed to him to go beyond supporting individual editions and take ownership of the project from this year’s anniversary edition, by throwing his full weight behind GLOWFUX and helping drive support for the beneficiary homes across Lagos State and beyond.

They stressed that one of the major aspirations for GLOWFUX @ 10 is to establish a more sustainable model that would reduce the pressure of organisers having to continually go around soliciting for sponsors each year.

According to the delegation, they believe such sustainability is achievable with the right level of commitment from strategic individuals and institutions, particularly with the involvement of the lawmaker and his established network.

The organisers further noted that even where direct financial support may not be possible, the JB brand could make a significant difference through advocacy, recommendations and strategic introductions to individuals, organisations and corporate bodies capable of supporting the initiative.

They appealed to Rep. Benson to recommend GLOWFUX to personalities within and outside Ikorodu, encourage influential individuals to identify with the project and bring more notable personalities into the annual celebration.

The delegation also encouraged the lawmaker to see GLOWFUX as an extension of the humanitarian interventions already associated with him and the Jimi Benson iCare Foundation, particularly its focus on improving the lives of people within the Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

The organisers specifically requested Rep. Benson’s presence at the GLOWFUX @ 10 grand anniversary celebration on Monday, December 28, 2026, at Ikorodu Town Hall, where the main event is scheduled to run from 12 noon to 6:30 p.m.

They also appealed to members and supporters of the Jimi Benson iCare Foundation to participate actively by coming with gifts – including clothing, food items, toys and other useful materials – for children across the 15 beneficiary homes expected to benefit from the anniversary edition.

Another major request was for the Jimi Benson iCare Foundation to own one of the four teams at the proposed GLOWFUX @10 Novelty Charity Football Match, scheduled for October 24, 2026, in Ikorodu. Selected teenagers from the beneficiary homes are expected to form the participating teams, making the football initiative another avenue for recreation, inclusion and positive engagement.

The delegation also sought Rep. Benson’s influence in mobilising broader support across the division, particularly by encouraging the six local councils in Ikorodu Division, Hon. Abiodun Moshood Aro (AMA) and other leading public office holders in Ikorodu Division to identify with the project – not only through financial contributions, but also through their presence, advocacy and active participation.

The organisers explained that wider participation by Ikorodu’s political and community leadership would help reinforce the message that the welfare and development of vulnerable children is a collective responsibility that transcends political, social and institutional boundaries.

Responding to the requests, Rep. Babajimi Benson assured the delegation of his support, particularly for the 2026 anniversary edition, while also expressing his willingness to continue supporting the initiative beyond the 10th anniversary.

The lawmaker’s position was also informed by his concern for children living in vulnerable circumstances, including those in orphanages, shelters for children living on the streets and other organised homes where children require support, care and opportunities to experience a better quality of life.

Rep. Jimi Benson encouraged the organisers and assured them that he would begin work in earnest towards generating additional support for GLOWFUX @ 10 and helping connect the initiative with relevant individuals and stakeholders.

The delegation subsequently presented GLOWFUX @ 10 anniversary merchandise to the lawmaker as a sign of  his longstanding association with the project.

The 2026 edition of GLOWFUX, themed “A Decade of Changing Lives, One Story At A Time,” is expected to bring together vulnerable children, families, philanthropists, corporate organisations, government representatives, community leaders, entertainers and other members of the public for a special 10th-anniversary celebration.

Beyond the December celebration, the anniversary programme includes a number of initiatives designed to deepen the impact of GLOWFUX. These include the October 24 Novelty Charity Football Match, the induction of new GLOWFUX Young Ambassadors, the Hall of Charity Awards, and special anniversary interventions for the 15 beneficiary homes.

The organisers have also announced plans to present milestone anniversary gifts to beneficiary homes, including generators, washing machines and other high-value household items, as part of the project’s commitment to leaving tangible and lasting value beyond the event itself.

As preparations continue, the organisers are calling on Ikorodu’s political, traditional, religious, corporate and community leadership to rally around GLOWFUX @ 10 and help make its 10th anniversary not only a celebration of the past decade, but also a stronger foundation for the next decade of changing lives.

GLOWFUX @10… A Decade of Changing Lives, One Story At A Time.
